  Basic Rules

COK meets are held on Saturday, unless marked otherwise on the meet schedule further down this page.

10:00 AM Basic Instruction begins for all who are interested. This is very informal; if you don't see a teaching group in progress, ask at the registration desk.
10:30 Start times become available. Go to the registration desk and request one.
12:30 PM No more start times. You cannot begin later than this time.
3:00 All courses are closed. EVERYONE must check in at registration by 3:00 PM.
Important!  When you complete your course, you must check in with the meet director at the registration desk. See below.

There is a three hour time limit to all courses. At that point you must check in whether you're finished or not.

EVERYONE must check in at registration by 3:00 PM, finished or not.

It does not matter if you completed your course or not — anyone who does not check in will be Presumed Lost. A search party will be organized. If you really are lost, then help is on the way.

(But... if they find out you went home to watch “House” without checking in, boy will they be pissed.)

Fees

$7.00 is the map fee. Note that this fee is for each map, not each person. Several people may elect to go together using only one map.

COK members and special groups use the discounted map fee of $5.00. Compass rental is available for $1.00; you will be asked to leave your driver's license or your car keys as collateral.

COK Membership

Wouldn't you rather be a member? Support the COK, get the cheaper member prices above, receive our newsletter, The Orient Express, and participate in Sublime Oneness of Humanity, on a local level.

You can join at any meet, or by mailing in a Meet Registration Form. There's a link to one on the home page of this site, under the heading "Fill Out Meet Forms in Advance". Do it today!

  Meet Schedule

Volunteers help out the Meet Director, maybe by getting people registered or writing down start times. No expert orienteering skills are required, but many times an extra pair of hands are greatly appreciated. If you've enjoyed a few meets, maybe now's the season for you to give some back — pick a date, contact the Meet Director, and volunteer! Hey! ...you'll be righteous the rest of the year.

Check with the Backwoods Orienteering Klub (BOK) to see about other meets in North Carolina, especially in the Raleigh area. Link revised 29-Jan-2009. BOK has a nifty new website!   -BP.

When you see YES! in the Results column (below), then the meet results have been posted. Click on the YES! to jump to that meet’s report.
