  Fun in the Piedmont

Piedmont Environment Center | 13-Dec-2008 | David Alexander, meet director.

The morning started off rather cold and Josef was in the woods setting controls as the JROTC were unloading from the buses.Carl Briscoe from Western Alamance High School had organized a JROTC championship. There was some confusion at the start due to the master maps having the start triangle located up the hill at the corner of the Visitors Center and the JROTC actually starting in the small clearing, 100 meter down the hill. Most of the cadets quickly relocated and were off the first control.

With over 100 total participants, the meet was one of the most successful at the relatively small park. Located halfway between Raleigh and Charlotte, Piedmont drew several BOK members as well. The Green course was very fast and fun with 16 controls in 4.3 km. Thanks to Josef Trzicky for setting the courses.
