Badin Lake | 8-Oct-2008 | David Alexander, meet director.
This was the third annual Uwharrie Mountain Festival, promoting outdoor sports in the beautiful Uwharrie Mountains and the Badin Lake day use area situated on the eastern shore of Badin Lake is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors.
This year we were able to set longer distance courses thanks to Josef Trzicky and newly mapped areas just south of the original map. Combined, the map easily allowed for a 4.9km Green course. The woods along the shoreline are very open, mostly mature hardwoods and home to some very large boulders. Although contour details are somewhat limited, point features abound. Over the winter, we hope to expand the map to about 3 square kilometers. Look for a regular meet there sometime this spring.
