  Many Hands make Light Work at McDowell

213 people came out to enjoy Orienteering on a beautiful fall day. Clear skies and cool weather, just right for Orienteering. We had a lot of JROTCs (from several different schools), several different Scout Troops, some regular Klubb members, and some new faces also. I hope everyone enjoyed their hike in the woods. I can’t really comment on the courses because I wasn’t the course setter this time, just the meet director / timekeeper. But I didn’t hear of any problems during the day, so all went well.

This event was a fine example of the type of volunteering that the Klubb needs in order to put on an event. First is a special thanks to Dick and Sylvia Davis who came all the way from Montana to set the courses. OK, so they might have had some other things to do in town while they were here also. With so many people registering all at once, I couldn’t have done it without the help of Barbara Scruggs. (Hint: if you want to avoid the long line at registration, you can download the registration form from the web page and have it filled out before coming to the meet.) James Sisk stepped right in and took care of some instruction that was needed during the morning. And control pick-up was taken care of by a bunch of helpers: David Alexander, Don Christensen, Jeanie Martz and Amber Callahan, Walter Siegenthaler, and Dick and Sylvia Davis. If I have missed thanking anyone who volunteered, please excuse me. I truly appreciate the help that all of you gave me for this event.
